Care needs don't always wait for funding decisions
Assessments and funding decisions take time, but sometimes care is needed urgently. It's worth understanding your options while funding is still being worked out.
Interim self-funded care
Many families choose to arrange and pay for care privately while a council or NHS assessment is ongoing, and review the arrangement once a funding decision is made.
Ask about urgent or interim support
If there is an urgent safeguarding or hospital discharge need, tell the council or NHS team involved — some areas have arrangements to put interim support in place while a full assessment is completed.
Backdating and retrospective funding
Depending on your circumstances and local policy, it may sometimes be possible to ask about retrospective funding once a decision is made. Ask the assessing team directly, as this varies by area and situation.
We can help you start quickly
Care Angels can usually begin privately funded care quickly once an assessment of needs has taken place, so your care doesn't have to wait for a funding decision.
Common questions
Can care start before funding is agreed?
Often yes, if arranged and paid for privately in the meantime. Speak to our office about how quickly we can start.
