What it is

NHS-funded nursing care is a contribution the NHS can make towards the cost of registered nursing care, for people who are not eligible for full NHS Continuing Healthcare but who need care from a registered nurse.

How it differs from CHC

Unlike NHS Continuing Healthcare, NHS-funded nursing care contributes towards part of the cost of care rather than funding the whole package, and it most commonly applies in nursing home settings.

How it's assessed

Eligibility is usually considered as part of, or alongside, an NHS Continuing Healthcare assessment.

Common questions

Does NHS-funded nursing care apply to home care?

It most commonly applies to registered nursing care homes. If you're unsure how it applies to your situation, ask the NHS team carrying out your assessment.
