What a personal budget is
If the council agrees to fund some or all of your care, they will work out a personal budget — the amount of money identified as needed to meet your eligible needs.
How a personal budget can be managed
You can usually choose how your personal budget is managed: the council can arrange and pay for services on your behalf, you can take some or all of it as a direct payment to arrange your own care, or you can use a mix of both.
Choosing your care provider
A personal budget can give you more choice over who provides your care, including choosing a provider like Care Angels, as long as the arrangement meets your agreed care plan.
Reviews
Your personal budget and care plan should be reviewed regularly, and whenever your needs change, to check it's still meeting your needs.
Common questions
Can I top up a personal budget myself?
In some circumstances you can choose to pay more for a particular service than the personal budget covers. Ask your council how this works in your area.
